The Superbowl

This year we were granted the privileged of seeing two number one teams fight for the true number one in football. The Colts and the Saints both starting out as the number one seeds and both reaching 10-0 this season. From those stats alone you would say this would be a great game with the two best teams.

The game was made out to be a high scoring, pass crazy, touchdown fest. This was not the case. The game was more of both teams showing a bit more of a defensive presence. The game started out with the Colts pulling out 10-0 and looking for an easy Superbowl win. Oh no, the Colts forgot they are playing against Drew Brees. The Saints, lead by their down the line Hall of fame Quarterback, came back to beat the colts. Saints become the true number one. So that would make the Colts number two? I don't think so.

According to how events in the playoffs unfolded the Colts have the right to claim to be number 2, because they lost in the Superbowl. But lets look at the saints game two weeks earlier in the championship game. Saints vs. Vikings for the NFC Championship. The Saints went out and won the game but the manner in which they won strikes me as we didn't get the best two teams in this Superbowl. Now the Colts for the AFC makes sense to me but, I feel the better team for the NFC was the Vikings.

Now I am not a Vikings fan. But how the game went down makes me believe this was the team that should have gone to the Superbowl. Now a big thing to the Viking's loss was they had six turnovers. Yes that is horrible, and how could I say they should have gone to the Superbowl. The score was 31 to 28 Saints, a very close win. They almost lost to a team that turned the ball over six times. In that kind of game the opposite team should have won by a landslide. No, the Saints won the game in overtime by a field goal. This is the best team in NFL?

Now I am not trying to destroy the Saints Superbowl win. In fact I was cheering them on during the game and I am glad they won the Superbowl. The Saints where clearly the better team in the game and deserve to have this win. But the fact still remains, they almost lost to a team with six turnovers, and they won it by an overtime field goal.
